About the artist

Hey, I’m Jacklyn Foster, a contemporary Australian artist based in Mildura, Victoria. My journey to full time art wasn’t the traditional “go to art school, graduate, exhibit” path. I was actually studying occupational therapy and left just before graduating. I’d sold my first painting at 15, and I guess that spark never really went away.

Back when I was living in Geelong, I started painting kitchens and dining scenes without understanding why I was so drawn to them. Looking back, I was painting what I was craving: family dinners, shared meals, conversations at the table, and the comfort of being surrounded by my people.

Now, living back in Mildura, in regional Victoria, everything makes sense. My life is filled with the things I once missed - community, family, Sunday dinners, farmers’ market mornings. Those moments have become the backbone of my work.

I paint with acrylic on canvas, but I also create digital illustrations. My work is intuitive, nostalgic and rooted in the colours, textures and rituals of everyday domestic life.

I’ve been grateful to collaborate with @greensfoodsaustralia , @montmarteart , @princesshighwayclothing and @greenhipworkwear , and to contribute to projects like the Royal Children’s Hospital and @rspca_vic 150th anniversaries. In 2025, I was the Spotlight Stores Artist in Residence at the @melbourneroyalshow and painting live for eleven days and sharing the stories behind my kitchen-inspired art.

Through my paintings and prints, I hope to bring warmth, belonging and joy into people’s homes. The kind of feeling that comes from moments food on the table, with the people you love, and that feeling of “home”.
